THE FLYOVER – Two people were killed Sunday after a sniper ambushed firefighters responding to a blaze on Canfield Mountain near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Authorities said the shooter, who remained at large Sunday night, unleashed gunfire for hours, forcing crews to retreat and halting firefighting efforts.
Sheriff Bob Norris confirmed multiple firefighters were targeted. Officials are still unsure if there are additional casualties or how many suspects may be involved.
Gov. Brad Little condemned the attack as a “heinous” act and urged prayers for first responders. The FBI is assisting, and a shelter-in-place order remained in effect Sunday night.
