THE GEORGIA FLYOVER – The University of Georgia School of Medicine began accepting applications for its inaugural class in the fall, marking a major step in training more doctors in the state.
The school expects to enroll 60 students in the first class.
“We are seeking students who are ready to help set the standard for the type of physicians we will strive to produce at the School of Medicine—collaborative, compassionate, and committed to improving health across Georgia,” Dean Shelley Nuss said.
The school, located on UGA’s Health Sciences Campus in Athens, received accreditation this month and will be based out of a $100 million building set for completion in December.
Five other medical schools are located in the state. You can see a list of them here.
