THE NORTH CAROLINA FLYOVER – As ice left behind by Winter Storm Fern continues to refreeze, hazardous conditions persist across North Carolina. Forecasters are now watching the potential for another winter storm to develop across the state this weekend.
The chance of precipitation depends on how far inland the moisture reaches and the track of an area of low pressure. Most models show a chance of measurable snow or a wintry mix across central North Carolina beginning Saturday, though exact timing, totals, and impacts remain uncertain.
Thousands of North Carolinians remain without power due to the most recent storm.
In addition to restoring many of those outages, Duke Energy is warning customers to ignore and delete circulating scam text messages falsely claiming scheduled power outages and instead contact the company directly or check official communication channels for accurate information.
