THE FLYOVER GEORGIA – Georgia public schools will reintroduce cursive writing into the grades 3–5 curriculum as part of the state’s new English language arts standards.
The standards also require the teaching of print handwriting starting in kindergarten, aiming to boost writing fluency and cognitive development.
State education officials say cursive supports literacy and helps dyslexic students. Some parents question the practicality of cursive in a digital, tech-driven world.
